  • The top 75 alumni were honored at PCC's 75th anniversary in 2001. Among these distinguished alumni are:
     
    • Bruce Merrified, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, who was Professor Emeritus in Biochemistry at Rockefeller University until his death in 2006.
       
    • Jackie Robinson, baseball legend.
       
    • Nathaniel Rosen, cellist, the first and only American gold medal winner of the Tschaikovsky Competition for Strings and the first American since the legendary Van Cliburn won the piano competition.
       
  • One of 107 two-year colleges in California and the second largest single-campus two year college in the nation with a full-time student enrollment averaging more than 25,000.
     
  • Founded in 1924 with entrance requirements which were stipulated at the outset to be the same as at the state university and other reputable universities and colleges. Moreover, the credits would be of the same standard.
